About FMG

FMG combines more than 20 years of Oklahoma marketing experience with expertise in traditional media, digital marketing, AI search visibility, and bilingual marketing.

But what really makes us different is how we approach the problem.

Most agencies start by talking about services. We start by talking about customers.

How do people discover your business? Why do they choose you over a competitor? What's preventing them from taking action?

I've spent more than two decades helping businesses connect with customers across Oklahoma, and one thing I've learned is that marketing tactics alone rarely solve the problem.

The goal isn't more marketing. The goal is helping businesses build customer acquisition systems that generate measurable results.

One of the biggest mistakes I see businesses make is assuming they have a marketing problem when they actually have a customer discovery problem.

Today's customers don't follow a straight path. They may find you through ChatGPT, Google, social media, online reviews, referrals, television, radio, or a recommendation from someone they trust.

If customers can't find you, don't understand what makes you different, or don't trust your business, more marketing won't fix the problem.

Before we talk about tactics, we need to understand how customers discover, evaluate, and choose your business.

Customer behavior has changed dramatically.

Twenty years ago, businesses could rely on a few marketing channels. Today, customers bounce between AI platforms, Google searches, websites, social media, online reviews, referrals, television, radio, and community recommendations before making a decision.

That's why marketing isn't about showing up in one place anymore. It's about showing up wherever your customers are looking.

The businesses that understand how customers discover information today are often the ones that win tomorrow.

Over the years, I've worked with healthcare organizations, educational institutions, nonprofits, government agencies, professional service firms, retailers, restaurants, financial institutions, and many others.

While every industry is different, the fundamentals are often the same. Customers need to find you, understand what makes you different, trust your business, and ultimately choose you.

That's why I focus less on the industry itself and more on understanding how your customers make decisions.

No.

While our deepest experience is in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa markets, we work with businesses and organizations throughout Oklahoma and beyond.

Having spent more than two decades helping businesses connect with customers across the state, we understand the unique characteristics of Oklahoma’s major metro areas, regional communities, and statewide audiences.

Yes.

We help organizations communicate effectively with both English-speaking and Hispanic audiences through culturally relevant marketing strategies, bilingual content, and multicultural outreach.

Yes.

Oklahoma City and Tulsa are Oklahoma’s two largest markets, but they are not identical.

Each market has its own business environment, media habits, demographics, and customer behaviors. Having spent more than two decades working in both markets, I’ve helped organizations develop strategies that connect with audiences locally while supporting broader statewide goals.

Understanding those differences can help businesses avoid costly mistakes and identify opportunities that may not be obvious to outside agencies.

Absolutely.

While much of my experience comes from Oklahoma City and Tulsa, I’ve worked with businesses, organizations, and audiences throughout Oklahoma.

Whether you’re focused on a local market, a regional audience, or statewide growth, the goal is the same: understanding how customers discover, evaluate, and choose your business.

One of FMG’s strengths is helping organizations build strategies that work across both major metro areas and communities throughout the state.

Marketing Insights
& Frequently Asked Questions:

Customer Acquisition

Many businesses don’t have a marketing problem. They have a customer discovery problem.

Today’s customers don’t follow a straight path to purchase. They may discover your business through AI search, Google, social media, online reviews, referrals, television, radio, or community recommendations before ever contacting you.

If customers can’t find you, understand your value, or trust your business, marketing tactics alone won’t solve the problem.

The first step is understanding how customers discover, evaluate, and choose your business, then building a strategy around that process.

Customer behavior has changed dramatically.

Consumers now move between AI platforms, search engines, social media, online reviews, websites, referrals, television, radio, and community recommendations before making a decision.

Because customers interact with multiple touchpoints throughout their journey, businesses need a strategy that supports visibility, credibility, and engagement across multiple channels.

That's probably the most common question I get.

Most businesses immediately think about advertising, but getting more customers usually starts much earlier.

Can customers find you?

Do they understand what makes you different?

Do they trust your business?

Is it easy to do business with you?

Advertising can help, but the businesses that consistently attract customers are usually the ones that are easy to find, easy to understand, and easy to choose.

The goal isn't simply generating more traffic. The goal is generating more customers.

A customer acquisition system is simply a structured way of turning strangers into customers.

It includes everything from how people discover your business to how they evaluate you, contact you, become customers, and ultimately become advocates for your brand.

Most businesses focus on individual marketing tactics.

I prefer looking at the entire system because that's where opportunities are usually hiding.

When you understand the entire customer journey, you can identify what's working, what's not, and where improvements can have the biggest impact.

One of the most common mistakes is focusing on tactics before strategy.

Businesses often ask where they should advertise before fully understanding their audience, competitive position, customer journey, and goals.

Effective marketing begins with understanding the customer and building a strategy that aligns with how people make decisions.

AI & Search

More people are using tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews to research businesses before making decisions.

AI Search Optimization is the process of helping your business become easier for those platforms to find, understand, and trust.

Nobody can guarantee you'll appear in AI-generated recommendations, but there are steps businesses can take to improve their visibility and credibility.

As customer behavior continues to evolve, businesses need to think beyond traditional search and consider how they appear in AI-driven conversations as well.

Maybe.

Nobody can guarantee placement in ChatGPT or any other AI platform.

What I can tell you is that businesses with strong websites, helpful content, positive reviews, clear expertise, and consistent information across the internet tend to put themselves in a much better position.

AI systems are looking for trustworthy information.

The more credibility your business builds online, the easier it becomes for both people and AI platforms to understand who you are, what you do, and why customers should trust you.

AI is changing how people research, compare, and evaluate businesses.

In many cases, customers are getting answers before they ever visit a website.

That's a major shift.

Businesses that understand how AI influences customer behavior today may have a significant advantage over competitors that are still relying on yesterday's marketing strategies.

I don't believe AI replaces good marketing. I believe it's changing how customers discover information, and businesses need to adapt accordingly.

No.

AI is changing search, but it is not replacing the need for search visibility.

Traditional search engines still play a major role in how people discover businesses. However, consumers are increasingly using AI-powered tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews to research products, services, and businesses.

As a result, businesses must think beyond traditional rankings and focus on how they appear across both search engines and AI-generated answers.

The future is not SEO versus AI. The future is building a digital presence that performs well in both environments.

Businesses can improve their visibility in AI search by making it easier for AI platforms to understand who they are, what they do, where they operate, and why customers should trust them.

Some of the most important factors include:
• Maintaining a professional and up-to-date website
• Publishing helpful content that answers customer questions
• Clearly describing products, services, and areas of expertise
• Building positive online reviews
• Maintaining accurate business information across the web
• Demonstrating industry experience and authority
• Earning mentions and references from trusted sources

As AI continues to influence customer behavior, businesses that are easy to find, easy to understand, and easy to trust will be better positioned to improve their visibility.

Media Strategy

The answer depends.

Every business is different.

I've seen some businesses thrive with television and radio. Others get incredible results from social media, Google, AI search visibility, referrals, community engagement, or a combination of channels.

The goal isn't choosing the most popular marketing channel.

The goal is understanding where your customers spend their time, how they make decisions, and which channels are most likely to influence those decisions.

Good marketing starts with the customer, not the channel.

Most businesses don’t need one or the other. They need the right mix.

Traditional media can create awareness, credibility, and broad market reach. Digital marketing can provide targeting, engagement, measurement, and conversion opportunities.

The best strategy depends on where your audience spends their time and how they make purchasing decisions.

The reality is there isn’t a magic number.

The right budget depends on your goals, your industry, your competition, and how quickly you’re trying to grow. A business looking to maintain market share will have different needs than a business trying to aggressively grow.

I often encourage businesses to think differently about the question. Instead of asking, “How much should I spend on marketing?” ask, “What am I trying to accomplish?”

Once we understand your goals, target audience, competitive landscape, and customer journey, we can build a strategy and determine the investment needed to support it.

The goal isn’t spending more money. The goal is investing wisely.

Success should be measured against business objectives.

Depending on the organization, that may include leads, sales, website traffic, customer acquisition, engagement, awareness, search visibility, or revenue growth.

The most important question is not whether marketing generated activity, but whether it helped achieve meaningful business results.

Brand awareness refers to how familiar consumers are with your business and how easily they recognize your brand.

Businesses with strong awareness often have an advantage because customers are more likely to trust, remember, and choose brands they already know.

Awareness alone does not generate sales, but it plays a critical role in customer acquisition and long-term growth.

Online reviews can have a significant impact on customer decisions.

Many consumers evaluate reviews before contacting a business, making reviews one of the most influential trust signals available.

Businesses should actively monitor their online reputation and encourage satisfied customers to share their experiences.

Many businesses struggle because they focus on channels, platforms, and marketing tactics before understanding the customer journey.

Fusselman Factor™ helps identify gaps in visibility, messaging, trust, and customer acquisition so businesses can focus on what drives results.

Because customers rarely make decisions the way businesses think they do.

Consumers move between AI search, Google, social media, reviews, referrals, websites, television, radio, and personal recommendations before making a decision.

Understanding how customers discover your business is often the key to improving marketing performance.

No.

The principles apply to organizations of all sizes. Whether you’re a small business, nonprofit, healthcare organization, educational institution, government agency, or larger company, understanding customer behavior is essential to growth.

Yes.

As AI increasingly influences how consumers discover businesses, organizations must consider how they appear in platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.

The Fusselman Factor™ evaluates these opportunities as part of a modern customer acquisition strategy.

We are a relationship focused agency. We call Oklahoma City, “the World’s biggest cul-de-sac”. Give me 5 minutes, I will probably know someone you know. Which means reputation is everything here.

Every engagement starts with understanding your business, your customers, and your goals.
.

Businesses change agencies for many reasons.

Sometimes they’re unhappy with results. Sometimes they’re looking for stronger strategy, better communication, new expertise, or a fresh perspective.

In my experience, the biggest challenge often isn’t dissatisfaction with the current agency. It’s concern about the transition process.

That’s why I focus on making transitions organized, strategic, and as seamless as possible while preserving what’s already working.

The goal isn’t change for the sake of change. The goal is helping businesses move forward with confidence.

Most businesses don’t need one or the other. They need the right mix.

Traditional media can create awareness and credibility. Digital marketing also creates awareness and credibility, in addition can drive engagement, targeting, and measurable action.

The best strategy depends on your audience, goals, budget, and market conditions.

Yes.

One of our strengths is understanding how traditional and digital channels work together.

Many agencies specialize in one area. We help clients build integrated campaigns that connect AI visibility, websites, social media, search, television, radio, outdoor, and content into a unified strategy.

Success starts with your goals.

For some businesses, success means leads. For others, it's sales, customer acquisition, website traffic, awareness, market share, or long-term growth.

The real question isn't whether marketing generated activity.

The real question is whether it helped move the business forward.

At the end of the day, likes, clicks, impressions, and website visits only matter if they're helping achieve meaningful business results.

Yes.

As consumer behavior evolves, businesses must consider how they appear in AI-powered search platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.

We help businesses improve their visibility by strengthening digital assets, content, authority, and discoverability.

Because I've spent my career in both worlds and watched it evolve.

Over the past two decades, I've helped businesses leverage television, radio, digital advertising, social media, content marketing, and now AI-driven discovery platforms.

Many agencies understand digital but have never managed large traditional media campaigns. Others understand traditional media but struggle with modern digital strategies.

Having worked extensively in both, I understand how they fit together.

Customers don't separate marketing channels when making decisions, and businesses shouldn't either.

The most effective strategies are often the ones that connect traditional and digital marketing into a single customer acquisition system.

Hispanic Market

Successful Hispanic marketing requires more than translation.

It requires understanding culture, language preferences, consumer behavior, media habits, and community relationships.

Organizations that authentically connect with Hispanic audiences often build stronger trust, deeper engagement, and more meaningful long-term relationships.

The answer depends on your audience.

Many Hispanic consumers comfortably navigate both languages, often switching between English and Spanish depending on the situation, product category, and message being delivered.

The most effective approach is usually based on audience research rather than assumptions.

Yes.

We have more than two decades of experience helping businesses connect with Hispanic audiences through television, radio, digital marketing, community engagement, and bilingual communication strategies.

Because successful Hispanic marketing is about more than language.

Over the past two decades, I’ve seen businesses make the mistake of treating Hispanic marketing as a translation project. In reality, it’s about understanding culture, trust, community, and how people make decisions.

If you want to reach the Hispanic market the right way, it can’t be a campaign—it has to be part of your company’s DNA.

Many Hispanic consumers move comfortably between English and Spanish, traditional and digital media, and multiple cultural influences. The businesses that are most successful are the ones that take the time to understand those nuances and build authentic relationships with the communities they serve.

No.

Translation is important, but translation alone is rarely enough.

A message that works well in English doesn’t automatically work the same way in Spanish. Successful Hispanic marketing requires understanding the audience, the culture, the message, and the context in which it’s being delivered.

I’ve seen organizations spend significant resources translating materials while overlooking the factors that actually drive engagement and trust.

Nearly every industry can benefit if Hispanic consumers are part of the target audience.

Healthcare, education, financial services, legal services, retail, restaurants, home services, government agencies, and nonprofits often see significant opportunities when multicultural strategies are implemented effectively.

What’s right for the client. Period.

Every recommendation should be based on what will best help the client achieve their goals, not on selling a specific service or platform.

The strategy should always come before the tactics.

Born and Raised!

I’m a lifelong Oklahoman who graduated from Putnam City High School and later earned a degree from the Michael F. Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma.

I’ve spent more than two decades helping businesses, organizations, and communities connect with customers throughout Oklahoma.

I often joke that Oklahoma City is the world’s biggest cul-de-sac. Give me five minutes and I’ll probably know someone you know.

That’s one reason I believe reputation matters so much. In Oklahoma, relationships matter, trust matters, and doing what’s right for the client matters.
